As with all highly innovative creations the Stationary High Altitude Wind and Photovoltaic Generator will no doubt face many challenges before being fully developed. |
It is well understood that that humanity has to take urgent action in order to protect the environment. Otherwise, in the near future there will be no environment left to protect.
The answer is sustainability. In the economic paradigms of the past, profit and environmental conservation were incompatible.
Indeed there is an urgent need to find ways to revert the planet´s inexorable march towards complete destruction. Therefore, the search for a holistic approach to clean and sustainable energy sources that can make ´profit´ and ´environmental preservation´ compatible concepts is a challenge that humanity must face. Among renewable energy sources we count biofuels, geothermic energy, wave energy, nuclear energy, solar energy and so forth. Of all of these, wind energy is the world´s most rapidly growing source of alternative energy. However, the conventional model of wind energy has some drawbacks, such as the inconstancy of winds, the need for large areas of land to build wind farms as well as environmental impact in terms of visual and noise pollution.
With the objective of overcoming the aforementioned drawbacks, AeroEólica Energias Sustentávies developed the Stationary High Altitude Wind and Photovoltaic Generator. This equipment puts aviation technology to use in order to help solve a serious dilemma facing mankind: the search for clean and renewable sources of energy. The equipment comprises of a floating platform with 4 turbines generating electricity and will be situated at the altitude of jet streams. Jet streams, which are well known meteorological phenomena in Aviation Meteorology, are marked by tubular currents of air moving at an average speed of 150 kmph. You have probably observed cirrus clouds when you see very high, stretched clouds that don´t fully cover the sky. Significantly, these clouds indicate the presence of jet streams. The floating platform will operate in these jet streams and take advantage of their enormous kinesthetic power to convert energy into electricity. Due to the fact that the platform will be located at altitudes highly exposed to the sun, the platform´s insulation will take advantage of solar energy by being covered with an extensive photovoltaic material. The moto-propellant arrangement will be formed by 10 electric motors, creating a cycle of sustainability.
